EYELASH EXTENSION FAQS

Eyelash extension is an advanced technique that lengthens and thickens eyelashes. They are single strands of lashes that are curved to replicate a natural eyelash and are then adhered carefully to an individual natural eyelash.

We take an artisan approach with our clients and will not rush your appointment. You can expect your first appointment to take approximately 60-120 minutes which will include a consultation and consent process. Each clients lashes are different, and while we can give a rough estimate of extensions used, we do not count them. We will design the right level of Light, Dark or Drama lashes that balance your natural lash count. It is important to note that with the Classic lash technique the end result will be dependent on how many natural lashes you have.

When properly applied and cared for, your eyelash extensions will last anywhere from three to six weeks. Please refer to The 10 Commandments in the aftercare section on how to properly care for your eyelash extensions to maximise longevity.

After your initial set of eyelash extensions you will receive instructions on how to properly care for them. An infill is an important commitment to your lash look, these are done every two to four weeks depending on aftercare and how quickly your eyelashes grow. An infill consists of a 45-60 min booking to essentially 'top up' as the eyelash growth cycle continues. This can be compared to acrylic nails and the infill process as nails grow out. You will require a minimum of 15-20 lashes on each side to qualify for an infill.

Due to the natural growth cycle of your lashes you will find your natural eyelashes shed every 60-90 days as new ones grow in. We recommend getting an infill every 2-3 weeks to make sure these new lashes receive an extension as the old lashes fall out. This ensures consistency in your lash look.

Extensions properly applied by a trained technician who uses quality products should not cause any damage. Our eyelash extension application techniques and aftercare instructions ensures your lash health. Much of this depends on you and your follow through. Please avoid 'walk in' type salons and nail bars offering a cheap service, the heavy extension weight, high irritant adhesive and lack of training can truly cause damage. Quality isn't cheap and your eyesight is priceless.

Allergic reactions do happen, but are rare. If you have developed an allergic reaction you may still wear extensions with some changes made to the application or aftercare process. What is more common is eye infection due to improperly washing and caring for your lashes. It is also important to discuss any allergies during consultation so your lash technician can foresee any contraindications.

Yes, although lash growth products may contain steroids or peptides that change the composition of your lashes and accelerate your eyelash growth and shedding cycle, therefore we cannot guarantee the outcome.

You will not need to use mascara with your lash extensions. We advise against it. However for nights that demand it, you can use a water-based mascara. Be sure to cleanse your lashes daily to avoid product build up if you chose to wear mascara.

LASH LIFT FAQS

A lash lift is a professional treatment that enhances your natural lashes by lifting and curling them from the root. It creates the appearance of longer, darker, more defined lashes without extensions.

A gentle lifting solution is applied to the lashes while they are set over a silicone shield. This restructures the lash shape, lifting them upward. A neutralising solution then sets the new shape, followed by nourishment and hydration.

A lash lift works with your own lashes. No additional lashes are applied.

  • Lash Lift: Enhances natural lashes
  • Lash Extensions: Adds synthetic lashes for length and volume

A lash lift is lower maintenance and ideal for clients who want a natural, effortless look.

Lash lifts are ideal if you:

  • Want low-maintenance lashes
  • Have straight or downward-growing lashes
  • Prefer a natural, mascara-free look
  • Don’t want the upkeep of extensions
  • Have sensitivities to lash extension adhesives

A lash lift may not be suitable if you:

  • Have extremely short or sparse lashes
  • Have had recent eye surgery
  • Have an active eye infection or irritation
  • Are allergic to perming solutions
  • Have very damaged or over-processed lashes

A consultation is always recommended if you’re unsure.

No, when done correctly and spaced appropriately. Over-processing or lifting too frequently can cause dryness or breakage. We recommend waiting 6–8 weeks between lifts.

Approximately 45–60 minutes, depending on lash length and thickness.

Possible reasons include:

  • Natural lash growth cycle
  • Hormonal changes
  • Oil-based skincare or makeup
  • Sleeping face-down
  • Using waterproof mascara
  • Overexposure to steam or heat

For best results:

  • Avoid water, steam, sweat, and eye makeup for 24 hours
  • Avoid rubbing or pulling the lashes
  • Avoid oil-based products on the lashes
  • Use a nourishing lash serum or conditioning balm
  • Be gentle when cleansing the eye area

Yes, after 24 hours. Many clients find they no longer need mascara, but if you do use it, oil-free formulas are recommended.

You must avoid water, steam, sweat, and humidity for 24 hours post-treatment. After that, you can resume normal activities.

Try to avoid sleeping face-down for the first 24 hours. After that, normal sleeping is fine.

  • Arrive with clean lashes (no mascara or eye makeup)
  • Avoid waterproof mascara for 48 hours before
  • Avoid oil-based products around the eyes
  • Remove contact lenses before the appointment

Many clients with sensitive eyes tolerate lash lifts well. However, sensitivity varies.

In many cases, yes. However, pregnancy hormones can affect results and longevity. We recommend waiting until the second trimester and discussing this during your consultation.

The lifted lashes gradually return to their natural position as new lashes grow in. There is no harsh regrowth line.

  • Space treatments correctly
  • Use nourishing products
  • Avoid excessive rubbing
  • Avoid harsh makeup removers
  • Follow professional aftercare advice
